There are also 2 cafés and a restaurant in Arthurs Pass village, a short 10 minute drive down the road. We look forward to sharing good food and relaxed company with you by the fire or overlooking the mountains.
Do I need to know anything about the area for safety?
The weather in Arthurs Pass can change quickly, so pack warm layers, even in summer. Consider sturdy walking boots for trails, rain jackets and a power adaptor suited to New Zealand. Phone reception is limited for most networks, although our Wi-Fi is pretty good, so having Wi-Fi calling activated is ideal. Very remote areas will have limited to no cell service. We are surrounded by untouched alpine landscapes and amazing New Zealand scenery. If you’re heading out for a walk or exploring the wider area, check the weather forecast first, as mountain conditions can change quickly. Let someone know your plans before setting off, especially for longer hikes. In winter, watch for ice on pathways and be prepared for sudden changes in temperature. If you have specific questions about the area and other information about the Bealey Hotel guest we are happy to help, contact us here
What is there to do in the area?
The main attraction to the area is the exceptional walking & hiking. You can also pop into the village to try and grab a sighting of a local Kea (our alpine parrots), but don't put anything down if you do, they are dreadful thieves! There is also bouldering and mountaineering with skiing in the winter
Is smoking permitted in the rooms?
No, smoking of any cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vapes, or any other heated or burned substances is strictly prohibited in any guest rooms or indoor areas. By signing the registration card or checking in, the guest agrees that if evidence of smoking is found in the room (including smoke odour, ash, or residue), a cleaning fee of $500 will be charged immediately to cover ozone treatments, specialized laundering, and lost room availability. Smoking is permitted in outside areas where ashtrays have been provided. Please do not drop cigarette ends on the ground.
